Scholars Talents Shine at the JPS 2026 STEAM Expo and District Science & Arts Fair
Jackson Public Schools welcomed more than 500 scholars, families, educators, and community partners to its 2026 STEAM Expo and District Science & Arts Fair on February 6–7, 2026. The two-day event highlighted innovation, creativity, and academic excellence from scholars across the district.
The celebration featured four key components: the District Arts Fair, the District Science Fair, the STEAM Expo vendor showcase, and the Scholar Showcase; reinforcing the district’s commitment to interdisciplinary learning grounded in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM).
On Friday, February 6, the Office of Advanced Academics conducted judging for the District Arts Fair, evaluating more than 50 student projects representing diverse artistic mediums and creative expression.
On Saturday, February 7, the Office of Teaching and Learning facilitated the District Science Fair, where more than 280 science fair boards from PreK–12th grade were judged. Scholars representing 34 schools and special programs participated across the science and arts competitions. From early learners to graduating seniors, scholars demonstrated curiosity, confidence, and college- and career-ready competencies through research-driven investigations and creative innovation aligned to state standards and inquiry-based instruction.
Coordinated by Elementary Network 1, the expo featured interactive vendor exhibits designed to expose scholars and families to career pathways, emerging technologies, and community resources. The simultaneous Science Fair, Expo, and Scholar Showcase created a dynamic, immersive environment that reinforced the district’s strategic emphasis on college and career readiness.
These experiences align directly with JPS’s vision to prepare scholars to achieve globally, contribute locally, and be fulfilled individually. Through world-class learning experiences, scholars demonstrated critical thinking, creativity, perseverance, and real-world application; reflecting the district’s core values of equity, excellence, growth mindset, relevance, strong relationships, and a positive, respectful culture.
The event was made possible through the collaboration of the Office of Advanced Academics, the Office of Teaching and Learning, and Elementary Network 1, reflecting a unified district approach to advancing scholar achievement and expanding access to high-quality academic opportunities.
The district will continue expanding innovative learning experiences that connect classroom instruction to real-world application and prepare every scholar for success beyond graduation.
