Mr. Roderick Smith

Mr. Roderick Smith will serve as principal of Provine High School for the 2024-2025 school year. He brings 18 years of educational experience to his new role. During this time, Mr. Smith has fostered the success of students and teachers by implementing organizational and instructional strategies that enhance teaching and learning. His career began at Williams-Sullivan High School as a STEM teacher. Later, he began working in Jackson Public Schools as a teacher at Callaway High School. After serving there for four years, he transitioned to South Jackson to Wingfield High School. While at Wingfield, Mr. Smith served as a teacher, Interventionist, Assistant Principal, and Principal. He and his team moved the school from the lowest-performing high school in Mississippi, moving it from an F rating to a C rating.
Mr. Smith earned his Bachelor’s and Master's degrees from THEE Jackson State University. He also participated in Mississippi Alternate Pathway to Qualified School Leaders (MAPQSL), a comprehensive training program designed to transform classroom teachers into leaders. Mr. Smith is honored to serve Provine High School as Principal. He believes in developing positive relationships among students, families, and staff. He is also committed to maintaining a safe and orderly educational environment supporting all scholars' growth.
